This coming September and October Wolfbane is offering local High Schools and Colleges the opportunity to have Wolfbane company members speak with students about the many different fields of professional theatre. In the past we have been asked to come into the classroom as a collective group, but this year we want to give students a more refined opportunity to hear from company members in their respective job titles. There is so much more depth to be had in a conversation specifically with a director, or sound technician then to have all company members present.

Wolfbane started out as a very small company with little to nothing except a desire to put on a great piece of art and has since grown into a thriving professional company with strong ties to its local roots, but also its growing ability to make connections with the greater professional arts community in areas such as New York and Chicago.

What to Expect

Teachers will be asked to keep one class period open for one of our guest speakers where a Wolfbane company member will come into your classroom prepared with an interactive experiance for your students based on their position in the company. Topics to chose from include:

  • Vocal Techniques for Choral Groups and/or Musical Theatre
  • Proper Vocal Exercises
  • Breathing Techniques
  • Warm-Up
  • Music Theory
  • The Business of Acting
  • Casting and Audition Technique
  • Improvisation
  • Acting for the Camera
  • Musical Theatre Performance
  • Stage Management
  • Set Design
  • Costuming Design and Techniques

The speaker will bring any materials, i.e. handouts, props, necessary for the class, and can provide a more detailed outline to teachers upon reservation of classroom time.

It is our hope that these classes will provide a stronger relationship with the community, offer the possibility for students to become more involved in a professional company, and ultimately show them that goals can be reached if you put your mind to it.

At the high school and college level, students will be able to ask questions and make connections that will be beneficial as they move closer to graduation and stepping out into the professional world themselves.  As we continue to grow we hope to always set a good example and be an inspiration to our fellow community members.
